A Daddy’s Fear!
The sudden realisation that, as confident as I feel,
Extra years with you I might not be able to steal.
Today I heard a story of a man just like me, Cancer was inside him, and he was only 43.
He fought for 16 months until he could fight no more, The cancer had its way and sent him to heaven’s door.
The bravery he showed would inspire some, But the thought of only 16 months, my fire was spun!
A fire, a fear that I can’t control, Losing time with you both saddens my soul.
You are my world, my heart, my everything, You’re just four and six, but what a journey it’s been.
But I want more years, more time with you, I want to see what amazing people you turn into.
So my promise to you is, I’ll do all I can do. To add more years, I’ll do it for you two.
And if one day I must go before, Know my love stays with you forevermore.
There is a string you can’t see that’s connected to me, and connected to you both wherever you will be.
I’ll watch over you both, and I’ll keep you safe, guiding your steps with love and grace.
Love Daddy x
